Policies

1. Membership Subscription & Cancellation Policy

  • Tuition at Music and Company is a flat subscription-based fee charged on the first day of each month. Your subscription holds your time slot in the schedule with your teacher throughout the year.

  • Music and Company is a year-round music school, meaning that your subscription continues unless withdrawal is requested. We accept enrollment at all times of the year.

  • Music and Company is closed on most national holidays and school breaks. The cost of these breaks is already factored into the flat subscription rate.

  • Upon enrollment, the subscription for the first month will be prorated for new students based on the number of lessons remaining in that month.

  • All students will be on AutoPay and must keep a payment method on file.

  • A one-time $50 sign-up fee is required upon enrollment. If a membership is paused and later resumed, the sign-up fee must be paid again.

  • Educational materials, music books, instrument rental, and other accessories are additional costs that must be covered by the client.

  • A late fee of $20 will be applied to any outstanding invoices that are 15 days overdue.

  • If your regular teacher becomes permanently unavailable, Music and Company will provide a new teacher at the same time slot or work with you to find a suitable alternative.

  • Cancellations must be made at least two days before the first day of the month, which is the billing date.

  • For students enrolled in quarterly or yearly commitment plans, cancellations must be requested at least two days before the renewal date.

  • If no cancellation request is received before the renewal date, quarterly and yearly plans will automatically convert to a monthly membership at the standard monthly pricing.

2. Lesson Length

  • Individual lessons are 30 minutes long.

  • Lessons with two students are 45 minutes long.

  • Lessons with three or four students are one hour long.

  • There is no obligation to attend group classes, but they are highly encouraged as they promote faster progress and make the musical journey more enjoyable.

3. Missed Lessons - Student Caused

  • Attending lessons regularly is crucial for musical growth. Consistency builds muscle memory, reinforces skills, and ensures steady progress. Missing lessons frequently can slow development and create gaps in learning.

  • Lessons cannot be rescheduled by students for any reason, regardless of advance notice. This policy respects teachers' time and promotes discipline and accountability.

  • If a student misses a lesson, a video makeup lesson will be provided through LessonMate, an online platform students receive access to upon enrollment.

  • Consistent practice outside of lessons is essential to progress. Teachers provide structured practice plans, and students are encouraged to follow them diligently.

4. Missed Lessons - Teacher Caused & Substitutes

  • If a teacher is unavailable due to illness or planned or unforeseen circumstances, Music and Company reserves the right to assign a substitute teacher.

  • Substitute teachers will be briefed on students' progress to ensure lesson continuity.

  • If a substitute cannot be found, the school reserves the right to reschedule the lesson.

  • If you would prefer to reschedule with your main teacher rather than taking the lesson with a substitute, you may call the studio to request this. We do not guarantee that it will be possible, but we will give it our best efforts.

5. Scheduling & Billing

All scheduling and billing matters should be handled through the administrative team or via the Opus1.IO platform.

6. Tracking Progress

  • After every lesson, the teacher will send notes accessible to students and their families through the LessonMate platform.

  • Sign-in information will be sent once the first lesson notes or catch-up lesson is available.

  • If sign-in information is lost, a link will be provided to regain access.

  • A guide on how to use LessonMate will also be available through a provided link.

7. Indemnification

  • Clients assume all risk of injury or harm to the child(ren) or adult(s) associated with participation in musical activities at Music and Company.

  • Clients agree to release, indemnify, defend, and forever discharge Music and Company and its owners from all liability, claims, demands, damages, costs, and expenses in the unlikely event of injury sustained by a child(ren) or adult student during the course or as a result of their participation in Music and Company's musical activities, recitals, or lessons.

  • Music and Company is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students.

8. Photo/Video Release

  • Unless requested in writing, Music and Company is granted permission to take photographs and videos of students to use in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements, newsletters, social media, and other promotional materials.

  • Permission is also hereby granted for Music and Company to copyright such photographs in its name.

9. Referral and family Program

  • Music and Company will apply a $50 referral credit to any family that refers another family to take lessons.

  • If another member of a student's family joins Music and Company, the new member will receive a 50% discount on their tuition for the following month.

  • To redeem this credit, families must email or call Music and Company with their name and the referred family’s name.

By enrolling in Music and Company, students and parents agree to abide by the policies outlined above to ensure a structured and effective learning environment.
